In a cozy mobile home park in Florida, there lived an elderly widower and a widow who had known each other for many years.
\nOne evening, they found themselves at a community dinner, seated across from each other at the same table in the activity center.<\/p>\n

As the meal went on, he stole a few admiring glances her way. Finally, summoning his courage, he leaned forward and asked, \u201cWill you marry me?\u201d<\/p>\n

After a brief, dramatic pause\u2014six whole seconds of thoughtful silence\u2014she replied, \u201cYes. Yes, I will.\u201d<\/p>\n

With smiles and a few more kind words, they finished their meal and eventually returned to their own homes.<\/p>\n

But the next morning, he was struck with a troubling thought. Had she said \u201cyes\u201d or \u201cno\u201d? He simply couldn\u2019t remember. Try as he might, he couldn\u2019t recall her answer\u2014not even a hint of memory.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Nervously, he picked up the phone and called her. Apologizing for his forgetfulness, he explained how he struggled to remember things these days. Then, after a little buildup, he asked, \u201cWhen I proposed last night, did you say \u2018yes\u2019 or \u2018no\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n

She answered with a warm laugh, \u201cWhy, I said \u2018Yes, yes, I will,\u2019 and I meant it with all my heart.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Then, with a touch of relief, she added, \u201cAnd I\u2019m so glad you called because I couldn\u2019t remember who had asked me.\u201d<\/p>\n
