One mother, Heidi Johnson, decided to show her son exactly what it means to be an adult. Her 13-year-old son, Aaron, was making some money on YouTube and began to challenge her authority, saying he was \u201cindependent.\u201d In response, Heidi came up with a creative way to teach him a \u201creal-world\u201d lesson, showing him that freedom also comes with responsibility.<\/p>\n
Back in 2015, Heidi\u2019s son was refusing to do his homework and claimed that he didn\u2019t need to listen to her because he was earning his own money. So, she wrote him a letter, now known as the \u201croommate contract.\u201d In it, she outlined the rules he\u2019d need to follow if he wanted to act like an adult.<\/p>\n
Aaron would have to pay for rent, buy his own food, take care of household chores, and cover his share of internet and utility costs. Heidi posted the letter on Facebook, and her approach quickly went viral, with many people supporting her creative way of teaching her son responsibility.<\/p>\n
